Feedback
Feedback is the system's response that confirms an action has been received and tells the user what happened.
Why it matters
Without feedback, people don't know if their action worked. They tap again, get confused, or assume the product is frozen.
In depth
Feedback can be visual, auditory, or haptic, and should be timely and proportional to the action. Immediate, clear feedback closes the loop between intention and result — one of the most fundamental principles of interaction design.
Real-world example
A button that briefly shows a spinner and then a checkmark after you submit a form reassures you that it worked.
